SVC Kicks Off SAAM with the Minnesota Timberwolves Charity Night

April 1, 2011

Sexual Violence Center is kicking off Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April with a joint fundraiser at the Minnesota Timberwolves v. Miami Heat game tonight — April 1. Watch the T-Wolves take on perennial basketball powerhouse the Heat at Target Center and support the Sexual Violence Center.

The Timberwolves will profile the Sexual Violence Center tonight as their non-profit organization of the game. SVC will be recognized at half time for its contributions to the local community for fighting to eradicate sexual violence. Through their work including a 24-hour crisis line, individual counseling, advocacy and legal clinics, SVC provides support to 2,000 individuals in Hennepin County, Scott County and Carver County each year. SVC also provides education and empowerment to over 20,000 people each year through community trainings and outreach efforts. New initiatives such as Green Dot training expand the reach of SVC, person by person.

For these reasons and others, SVC is being recognized tonight by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Please join this fun-filled night of NBA basketball and cheer on Sexual Violence Center at half-time.

If you or someone you know has been the victim of a sexual assault or sexual violence and you need immediate assistance, the Sexual Violence Center’s Crisis Line at 612-871-5111.
